Welcome to Mrs. Baucum's class!
This is going to be a GREAT school year in which your child is challenged from where they are, and grow academically, emotionally, and physically! While focusing on being readers, writers, speakers, thinkers, we will incorporate responsibility.
We will get as much work done in the classroom as we can, so as not to have homework very often. There will be occasions when that is not possible though. I would appreciate your support in this manner, and stressing to your child/student the importance of completing assignments.
Every Monday I have the students write in their agenda what we will be doing EVERY day that week. The purpose of this is to inform you of what we are learning at that time. When you ask your child what they learned in Mrs. Baucum's class, you can look in their agenda so that you have a springboard for questions.
When report cards and progress reports are sent home, I will place a label at the bottom of the page and go around it with a highlighter. If you see beautiful artwork at the bottom of their agenda done in highlighter, they may have removed one of my labels.
My classroom is in desperate need of tissues please.
Please be sure to check your child's grade on iNow, look at my Calendar and Homework page.
Go to quizlet.com and search baucumj to review vocabulary words.
In 8th grade English Language Arts, we focus on the student's ability to read a variety of texts, create and write professional products, and speak clearly in discussions and presentations.
