Welcome to 8th grade Social Studies. History is something we are passionate about, and our goal as teachers is to help instill an appreciation for the people and events who have shaped our nation, as well as help students develop an understanding of the way things have developed over time.
In 8th grade Social Studies we cover the early part of American History, beginning with pre-colonial times and ending with the Reconstruction period post-Civil War. Some important events we focus on during this class are colonization, the Revolutionary War, the Constitution/Bill of Rights and development of the government, the War of 1812, the first seventeen Presidencies, all wars leading up to the Civil War, the economy, westward expansion, and the Civil War. We look forward to taking you with us on this journey through History.
