  • BLACK HISTORY FACT OF THE DAY:  February 1 - Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.

    Vonetta Flowers became the first black gold medalist in the history of the Winter Olympic Games. She and partner Jull Brakken won the inaugural women’s two-person bobsled event in 2002 at Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Baseball tryouts will be Thursday February 2nd from 3:00-5:30pm. Please bring any baseball equipment that you will need to the tryouts. You must have a current physical form completed and ready to turn in before you can try out.

  • If you received an Honor Roll or Principal's List Card, please tape or staple it into your agenda. Students who have 2 cards will be rewarded with a Renasissance T shirt later this week. Also hold onto your tickets, because we will be having a drawing Thursday for prizes.

  • There is a bowling match this Thursday at Lanes, Trains, and Automobiles beginning at 4:15, players need to be there by 3:45 wearing their shirt and khaki pants.

  • Valentine Grams will go on sale on Wednesday, February 1st. Send one to your friends or even a teacher! They are $ 1.00 each.

  • Beat Lab is a free afterschool program where you create and produce your own music and make it into a youtube music video. This year's Beat Lab is on Wednesdays starting February 15. For more information and to sign up, visit Mrs Ranney in the STEM room 908.
