Week 8/Day 30/Detailed Drawing (Day 1)

Lawrence was known for his portrayal of African-American historical subjects and contemporary life and he referred to his style as "dynamic cubism", influenced by the shapes and colors of Harlem.

Drawing Assignment
1. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTO, 2. DRAW CAREFULLY AND THOUGHTFULLY, 3. BE 'MINDFUL' AND CALM AS YOU WORK, TAKING YOUR TIME WITH DETAILS, VALUE, TEXTURE, AND BE SURE YOUR WORK IS NEAT.

- This assignment will be a 5-day ASSIGNMENT. This drawing will count as 5 daily assignment grades (60% of your grade, for 5 days).
- You should be drawing 30 minutes per day/with no videos to watch/JUST DRAW!
- You must check in daily with a bell activity (BA) , a reflection (ET) (daily participation=40%), and a photo of your progress (daily assignment grade=60%). DO NOT WAIT to begin this drawing.
- Your drawing must be: detailed, neat, use texture (on the tree bark and leaves), shading, proportion, and texture (on the leopard); all of the drawing skills you have been mastering.

- Look at the light sources for shading, and the texture in the tree limbs, coat of the leopard and details in the leaves/click link below the photo for source and to enlarge.
- Paper orientation/horizontal, sketch entire scene on paper to get correct proportions, then fill in the details/UPLOAD or Email your progress DAILY.
#3 Exit Ticket-Reflect as you sit quietly for a few minutes after completing this assignment. Write your reflection concerning art class expectations, thoughts on the assignments, how you feel today!
Submitting daily assignment (Quarantine): Bring your drawings in upon returning to school! You may just sketch each day/subject of your choice.
In-person-turn your assignment around on your table so that Dr. Pass can circulate and read/see your writing & art work.
