Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!  I am excited to begin my first year as principal of Whitworth-Buchanan Middle School, my ninth year as an administrator, and 20th year as an educator. Previously, I was the assistant principal at Rockvale Middle School for eight years and have taught ELA in Rutherford County Schools for many years prior to entering administration. As we begin a new chapter at WBMS, our top priority will be to provide a positive learning environment where each student has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential in order to meet the challenges of high school.  To that end, it is important to me that each child feels welcomed, safe, and valued at Whitworth-Buchanan Middle School. Please do not hesitate to contact WBMS administration with questions or concerns.  I look forward to working with you throughout the school year to accomplish one of the most important and rewarding tasks there is-educating children.

I’m excited to begin my first year as an Assistant Principal and my first year at Whitworth-Buchanan Middle School.  I recently taught Criminal Justice and Forensic Science at Riverdale High School for 10 years in the Career and Technical Education Department.  I’ve also served as a State Dual Credit Instructor, Student Dean, PLC Lead, Criminal Justice County Lead, Testing Team Member and New Teacher Mentor.  Prior to education, I was in law enforcement with Metropolitan Nashville Police Department where I served as a police officer, flex officer and narcotics detective. I look forward to working with each student and parent to ensure that academic success is achieved and to better prepare them for high school and beyond.

Thank you for welcoming me to WBMS; I begin my twelfth year in education having been a special education teacher and response to intervention and instruction coach.  It is an honor to assist in leading our school in becoming a top school of Rutherford County adhering to policies and procedures yielding student growth in academics and character.  I am excited to be a part of the Whitworth-Buchanan community.
